Moscow Day - FITC Awards
Project Details
Moscow Day 2011 commemorated the 20th anniversary of the collapse of communism with celebrations throughout the Russian capital. For the festivities, Alfa Bank commissioned a 4-D architectural projection-mapped video on the main building of Lomonosov Moscow State University.
In a representation of the evolution of Russian culture and politics, the nighttime projection created stunning visual illusions depicting several stories symbolizing learning, Moscow’s history and the city’s hopes for the future.
The installation will be in the Guinness Book of Records as the largest projection mapping ever completed. The projection surface area covered 25,500 square meters, equivalent to 5 football fields with the projected content nine times the resolution of HD video. Eighty one projectors were used to create the 3-D effect and 45 artists worked on the design.
Over 300,000 attendees enjoyed the spectacular 25-minute projection during Moscow Day while several million viewed the installation on TV.
